The Vision

"to live is Christ, to die is gain." This may sound like an odd verse to champion a generation of students who have sacrificed less than any American generation before them, but the 1twentyone team believes that it is such revolutionary words that will ignite this generation to pursue holiness. As we launch this blog for those who crave to be a generation that lives Christ with an eternal perspective, I would ask that you journal with me on how these 8 words motivate you to live differently.

As Paul wrote these words to the church at Philippi, he was inviting the men and women he had grown to love to realize they were more than mere humans lying in the wake of Christ's sacrifice. They were invited to the join the story of God by opening the door to true radical living. To live Christ to the world means revolutionary love, unrelenting pursuit, and a selfless lifestyle. Let's spend the next week discussing what it means to live Christ to the youth movement of this country. Feel free to leave comments as we continue our discussion.....

  1. I was deeply challenged by the Word of God on Thursday night at camp. My entire life I have been playing safe...too safe. God never promised us a life that was secure and without danger. His promise was that if we follow Him with everything we have and we die to ourselves; we would be filled. God spoke to me through His scripture and I have been living UNsafe since camp. I have been lead by the Holy Spirit to pour my life out into the "least of these" and to be completely honest it's not easy, but God continues to give me the stregnth to do what seems compeletly counter-cultural. Phillipians 1:21 is a verse that is calling this generation to live only for the purposes of Christ's Kingdom and when it comes to death, we are not afraid!

  2. I have come across this scripture many times and the thing that challenges me the most is as followers of Christ this needs to be our mindset and that definitly isn't easy in the world we are living in today. Living with this mindset is different and will stand out in our society and since this lifestyle is Spirit filled, it will attract the people our age and they will want to live this way. Then the next step is we can introduce them to Christ. So to answear the question I believe the best thing we can do is live with this mindset and set an example and reach out with love.

  3. Good stuff so far. I love hearing that you were challenged by the Word of God. This is a huge statement. Most of us are challenged by a teaching, conversation, song, or documentary. True life transformation comes from the Word of God. What isn't easy about pouring your life into "the least of these"? (I ask this with all seriousness in an effort to discuss the difficulties we find in living out the commandments of God.)
